Design

Ninkear A16 is a classic, modern laptop with no design elements. Hard metal body in metallic gray color. The material is matte all around, the corners are slightly sloped, and the chamfer plays well in the light in some places.

On the top cover is a single inscription “Nuncare” in dark grey.

The dimensions are quite familiar, but not terrible: length 355 mm, width 247 mm, thickness 19.8 mm. It weighs around 1800 grams. I can’t say it’s light, but it’s still a laptop with a 16-inch screen diagonal, in an all-metal case and with active cooling.

Among the notable features: The top cover opens without supporting the bottom of the device. In short, like the Apple MacBook and some Windows devices. It seems like a small thing, but pleasant.

The hinges

Keyboard and touchpad

Traditional mechanical island type keyboard. The distance between the buttons is 1.5 mm, the dimensions of the buttons are 16x16x2 mm and the stroke is about 2 mm, i.e. short.

White Cyrillic and Latin letters. The Cyrillic alphabet is slightly prominent with a slightly bold paint on the surface of the buttons. The symbols look good, meaning there is definitely no sense that it was done in a crafty way.

To the right of the main keyboard is a number pad. We always have conflicts about this in the comments: some believe that the digital block is not needed, others say that it is a necessary quality – you can’t live without it.

I think a button block is necessary if a laptop has a 16 inch screen. The logic is this: a large diagonal is at least a gadget for work – you need convenient additional digital buttons.

The buttons themselves are narrow – 14x16x2 mm, somewhat unusual, as in the Huawei Matebook D16.

The PgUp, PgDn, End and Home functions are located on the number pad. At the very bottom is an additional Enter button.

There is a backlight, two brightness modes. Moreover, not only the outlines of the buttons shine, but also the symbols, which can be said to be rare in similar laptops. This is worth highlighting as a major plus of the gadget.

The touchpad is large (128×90 mm), and is slightly offset to the left relative to the central axis of the device. This is done so that you can use the digital block comfortably. The touchpad feels plasticky, a bit rough and a bit slippery. The buttons are mechanical and push in about 60mm. I can’t say anything special about the touchpad – it’s normal.

The power button is separate from the keyboard – on the top right. It has a white backlight, quite bright.

Overall, I’m happy with the keyboard and touchpad. Everything was done efficiently, intelligently and without question.

Connectors

left side:

  • device operation and battery charge indicators;
  • connector for connecting the power source with a plug diameter of 3.5 mm;
  • HDMI;
  • Two USB Type-C with support for PD 2.0 standard. The kit includes a power supply with a USB-C cable.

Right side:

  • two USB Type-A 3.0;
  • 3.5 mm for connecting a headset.

The usual ports, everything you need is there. The only thing I was missing was an SD card reader.

Display

The Ninkear A16 model uses a BOE NE160QDM-NYC IPS matrix with a diagonal of 16 inches. The aspect ratio is 16:10, the actual size is 344×215 mm.

The device has several undeniable advantages:

  • Matrix refresh rate up to 165 Hz;
  • High-matrix resolution 2560×1600 pixels;
  • 100% sRGB support;
  • Contrast 1200:1;
  • Low response time of around 3ms.

In part, such a laptop is marketing a refresh rate of 165 Hz, because the device itself is not a gaming device. On the other hand, if you play something like Counter-Strike, a high hertz would be useful. In addition, at a high refresh rate, the shell looks smooth, and working with such a laptop becomes a pleasure. In any case, more is better. It’s worse when you’re limited to 60Hz.

The brightness of the matrix is not outstanding – about 350 nits. In general, such a “beach” has a general meaning. In the sun it behaves more or less normally. There is no problem with office or home lighting.

Viewing angles are optimal, the image is not distorted. Black levels are quite high, and flare is minimal.

As for PWM, the ripple factor from 10 to 100% is about 1%. If the brightness is reduced to a level of 1-5%, the CP will be around 7%. In general, all values are within the normal range.

Increases in matrix update frequency. The frequency can be dynamic – from 60 Hz to 120 Hz, from 83 Hz to 165 Hz or constant – from 60/83/165 Hz. This is very unusual.

Autonomy

Dongguan Golden Battery Technology Inc. A large Li-Ion battery is installed inside the W042 case: 15.4V, 5400 mAh, 83 Wh.

100% charge lasts for 6 hours of active device use: connecting via Wi-Fi, printing text, launching toys for 20-30 minutes, playing YouTube videos, several disk and system tests. The result made me happy. Typically, such laptops “run out of steam” after about 3 hours of load.

Video from the drive at maximum brightness (50%) with sound lasts up to 10 hours.

Charges in about 1 hour 20 minutes using a 100W GaN+ power adapter. The adapter is compact (68x65x30mm) and relatively light (220g), has a USB-C connector and is equipped with a 1.5m long USB-C to USB-C cable. The unit has an operation indicator: it flashes blue.

CPU

Ninkear A16 laptop is equipped with AMD Ryzen 7 processor with 7735HS index. This chip was released in January 2023, meaning a new product. The SoC is built on the Zen 3+ architecture.

The number of cores is 8, the threads are 16, and the maximum frequency of the processor is 4.75 GHz. 6nm process technology.

Note: TDP is adjustable from 5 to 47 W. That is, the power in idle mode does not exceed 5 W, in “Office” mode the power increases to 35 W, in “Balance” mode – to 44 W, and if you need more power, F Use n. + Q button combination you can select “Turbo” – up to 47 W. In addition, it is in “Turbo” mode that the cooling starts to cool the hardware intensively: inside there are two coolers and two copper tubes.

Oddly enough, but looking at the tests, the processor heats up to 100% in “Turbo” and “Balance” modes, and up to 90% in “Office” mode. It is hard to say whether these are real data or just false values from different programs. The case heats up to 45 degrees Celsius. And then at certain points.

If the “office” mode is selected, the laptop is almost inaudible, the cooling system is very quiet. In “Balance” mode, the coolers can already be heard, but the noise level is still low. In “Turbo” mode the volume is decent, but the character of the sound is pleasant, rustling.

A laptop doesn’t just “scream” without load; Cooling starts working in two cases: battery charging and reasonable load in “Turbo” mode.

The integrated AMD Radeon 680M is responsible for the graphics. If you play games, these are the approximate frame rate parameters:

  • The Last of us (2023) in FullHD – 20-25 fps;
  • Atomic Heart (2023) – in FullHD – 35 – 45 fps;
  • Hogwarts Legacy (2023) in FullHD – 20 – 30 fps;
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (2022) in FullHD – 20 – 35 fps;
  • Doom Eternal (2020) in FullHD – 120 – 145 fps;
  • GTA V (2015) in FullHD – 50 – 100 fps.

That is, if you do not take into account the latest titles, the Ninkear A16 laptop competes very well with toys, on average you get a comfortable 60 fps at medium graphics settings. Doom is typically 140 fps – that’s where the matrix refresh rate of 165 Hz comes in handy.

RAM memory

In this case, the motherboard is equipped with two slots for RAM. A16 has one slot occupied by: Samsung K4RAH086VB 16 GB (LPDDR5, 4800 MHz). It’s admirable that a laptop like this uses such advanced RAM.

SSD storage

The disk manufacturer is BIWIN Storage Technology Co., LTD. Drive Model – NA80Y1M10, Capacity – 1 TB. Speed is decent – 3500/3100 MB/s.

Net

Inside is an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 adapter. Inexpensive, but it supports two bands, an ax standard, Bluetooth version 5.2.

On Wi-Fi, you can get speeds of over 280/350 Mbps for downloading and uploading data.

Camera

It is 1 MP, very wide angle and without distortion. It shoots quite well. That is, although the sensor is small, the optics and software have squeezed the most out of it: even when shooting against the light, you will be seen without any problems (in Skype/Zoom). The video is shot in 720p resolution at 30 fps.

The sound records well, with no distortion, no loud noises when the “gurgles” start to slide.

the sound

The Ninkear A16 laptop uses four speakers. Some “watch”, others play “table”. The sound is as big as possible (very wide stereo base), clear, and the frequency range is shifted to high frequencies. The volume is good enough to watch movies comfortably even in a noisy place. Music plays well, but no bass.

Impressions

For the first time I tested the company’s product Ninkear A16. He turned out to be quite interesting for his money. I remind you that the A16 model can be bought on the official website for about 80,000 rubles. For the money you get a pretty decent laptop. “Iron” returns 100% of its value.

I also liked the build quality: the way the motherboard was built (layout, components). The case is metal, unmarked, without any stickers or fancy elements.

I can fully recommend the device for purchase.

I’m waiting for you in the comments: what do you think about the Ninkear A16, did it turn out well?
