Apple Watch Series 9 ‘Double Tap’ Is Hot, But These 5 Features Are On Fire

[ad_1]

Apple’s new double-tap feature on the Apple Watch Series 9 is fantastic. But it’s getting a little too much of a spotlight.

Yes, it’s great that you can tap your fingers together to use the new Apple Watch without actually touching it. But did you know that newer watches have better processing power, more efficient Siri, and less destructive environmental impact?

If not, it’s time to learn. Here are some of the underrated new features on the Apple Watch Series 9.

1. New S9 processor

The first of these underrated additions we’ll discuss is the simplest: Apple gave the new watches a new S9 processor. That means they’ll be faster and hopefully have better battery life. It’s hard to say how much the device has improved without trying it out, but we’ll never say no to performance gains.

2. Siri is finally unintegrated.

Another feature that the new processor enables is on-device Siri functionality. Previously, you needed to tether your Apple Watch to an iPhone (wirelessly) to use Siri, as all of Siri’s processing was done on the iPhone and connected to the watch. Now, you can use Siri on Apple Watch without needing a phone nearby. On top of that, speech dictation is also noticeably better.

3. Improved Ultra Wide Band

Apple updated the ultra-wideband chip in the Apple Watch Series 9, which will surely be a boon for those who like to lose things. In case you didn’t know, the ultra-wideband chip allows the watch to find and track other nearby devices. This should be slightly more accurate than the Find My functionality in previous Apple watches, but again, it’s hard to say how much better it is without actually getting your hands on the time.

4. Goodbye, leather

Fun fact: The Apple Watch Series 9 is Apple’s first carbon-neutral device. The aluminum case is made from recycled materials, the devices are powered by clean electricity, and perhaps most interestingly, none of the accessories will be leather. It’s the first device in Apple’s broader move to ditch leather entirely, in favor of a new suede-like material called “Fine Woven.” Stupid name, but it’s for a good cause.

5. Highly detailed watch face

Exclusively on the new Apple Watch Ultra 2, there is a new watch face that takes advantage of the larger display of this particular device. This is the clock face. Unbelievably Detailed and complete, showing things like altitude, depth, temperature, and directional heading. The display also has a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, meaning you can see it even in bright sunlight. If you’re a legal adventurer, these things are probably great.

6. (BONUS) The most important feature…

The Apple Watch Series 9 tells time. You know, the thing watches are for? All those other features are great, but let’s not forget the most underrated feature of all.
